U.S Police and Violence July 2016
Alton Sterling
For someone to be shot and killed whilst immobilised and bearing no immediate
threat of force or violence should not go amiss in Civil Rights Justice
Division. Police brutality especially when racially motivated must be strongly
punished in the 'eyes of the law' and to prove to all US civilians the law does
not let such reckless and unjustified behaviour go without punishment. All US
police training guidelines would not have tolerated the actions of the two
Baton Rouge officers and whatever their motivations, their grave actions
have cost the life of a civilian which is irreversible damage. The backwards
perception some US police officers have for such brutality should not be
emblematic of police law enforcement because it is absolutely opposite to how
officers should act and behave. All arrestees or suspects should be treated fairly
and brutal excessive unjustified force should result in police officers being
discharged from the police force together with civil court action.
The duty of a
police officer is to serve and protect which includes those people who they
arrest on suspicion and detain on evidence because the service is not only to
their fellow country men and women but also to those suspects and arrestees
because law enforcement is a service placed on them to rectify their problems.
When law enforcement has taken it in to their 'own hands' and there is no
adherence to police or state enforcement guidance or rules on matters involving
arrest of an individual (armed or not armed) people's lives will be at stake.
Black Lives Matter because all lives matter and the undue violence on this
young man who had already put his hands up when asked to "not move"
was not checked for a firearm upon staying motionless and stationary.
He was violently
tackled to the ground and beaten and pinned by two officers who then shot him
more than once which killed him almost instantly. Whatever the officers claim
to be seeing or judging at the time is nonsense to what actually happened and
was caught on video footage at the time. Those two police officers should see
life sentence charges for the murder of Alton Sterling. Police officers are
trained and equipped to deal with non-resistant armed persons and it should
start with making the person stay still and motionless, disarming the person,
and then handcuffing the individual. Their rights can be said at the police
station. The two officers who should be in police custody should face the full
force of US Law.
Dallas Protest
Following the
police shooting in Dallas, Texas during a peaceful protest for racial justice,
there has been a scourge of civil unrest amidst the ideological frenzy. There
is an ideological debate between Black Lives Matter and how this affects racial
stereotyping in society. The simplicity of the slogan is the basic
message. If people over-complicate the idea behind its creation then holes are pricked in a solution to a huge problem in the U.S and around the world.
The base concept is to encourage people to consider lives of other people who
have an African American background and people who may fall victim to racism
because of a darker skin complexion. Its simple message takes the basic
social standard of All Lives Matter and re-emphasises in a society with people
who still perceive Americans differently because of bad teaching, they
must not act upon a racist perception, but instead see more light and more
truth to their actions.
Once again, a community is found torn by a terrorist's actions who's motivations people say is the cause for such violence, but motivations of such evils in the world
is hatred. Hatred has many labels but it still boils down to hatred.
Hatred has many languages and signs and emblems, but it still is hate in
the end, whatever form it takes.
There must be a 'translation of love' in such times of dismay and tragedy.
There are stories of violence committed by racial hate and hate for law
enforcement but the stories of 'love and compassion' translate the real truth in the world and humanity everyone would like to see shared more in all societies
across the globe, and not just in the U.S.A.
